Northern Ontario Below the Line Mentorship

The Northern Ontario Below the Line mentorship opportunities are designed for 2 Indigenous creatives located in the Greater Sudbury Area looking to begin or expand on a career in the Art Department and Wardrobe Department on a hit series!

We are thrilled to announce the selected Mentees will be placed on Letterkenny!  In preparation for this mentorship experience, imagineNATIVE’s partners at DGC Ontario and IATSE 634 will permit the Mentees to work on the series production.  

DGC Ontario will provide access to their Art Department Fundamentals training for the Art Department Mentee, and IATSE-634 will provide permit orientation training for the Wardrobe Department Mentee. Art Department Fundamentals training will take place during the week of August 15 - 19, 2022. and Permit orientation training is scheduled for Sunday August 14, 2022. 

The mentorships in the Art Department and Wardrobe Department will begin promptly on August 22, 2022, with 2 weeks of pre-production preparation followed by 3 weeks of production experience.

MENTORSHIP TIMELINE:

  • Wardrobe Department Mentee: (5 weeks, 8 Hr. Work Days)

  • Art Department Mentee (5 weeks, 8 hr. Work Days)

This mentorship is open to Indigenous creatives at any level of their career. Acting as a stepping-stone opportunity to build on transferable skills in the Art Department for drawing, graphic design, set design, and motion graphics . and in the Wardrobe Department for textile treatment, beading, leatherworking, dressing and beyond. While not a requirement for the mentorships, demonstrated experience or knowledge in these and similar areas is favourable.

The selected participants will receive Industry rates as crew members on the production. Intending to increase access, this mentorship includes transportation fees, equipment kit fees, living expenses, and child or dependant care when applicable, along with select training provided by our generous partners.

ELIGIBILITY 

This mentorship program is designed for Indigenous creatives in the Greater Sudbury area working or aspiring to work in the Film + Television industry. 

Please note: applicants must provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination to participate in this production mentorship. 

(please note if you are applying for more than one opportunity you will need to submit separate applications, individuals are only eligible to take part in one Institute offering at a time.)
